I offer mental health evaluations for immigration purposes for people living in Oregon or Washington state. There are many reasons why your attorney may have recommended you get a mental health evaluation to help strengthen your immigration case. Evaluations involve talking about sensitive topics, and I work to provide a supportive and respectful environment to help this process feel more comfortable for you.
Process
After you or your attorney request an evaluation, I will send you paperwork to complete, including a release of information so that I may speak with your attorney.
We will meet for 1-2 sessions lasting 1.5-3 hours each. The evaluation will cover different aspects of your life such as personal and family history, mental and physical health, trauma history, components about your immigration case and other important information about your life.
I offer evaluations either in-person or virtually.
Please let me know if interpretation is needed. I am experienced at using interpreters as part of the evaluation process.
Following our meetings, I am usually able to write the report within 10 business days to provide to your attorney.
Fees
My current flat fee for an evaluation is $1100. This includes the evaluation sessions, time writing the report, and coordination with you and your attorney.
Payment is due at the time of your scheduled appointment. Payment plans are offered and will be arranged prior to your appointment. The final evaluation will be submitted to your attorney once the fee is paid in full.
Additional fees will be clearly discussed ahead of time and may include:
a) if significantly more time is required to complete the evaluation ($150 per additional hour)
b) if an interpreter is needed ($75 per hour)
c) If I am called to testify in court ($175 per hour)
This includes my time reviewing documents, consulting with attorneys, travel time for in-person testimony, waiting time, and testimony time.
My Training
I am an experienced trauma therapist with a background in writing reports for court, providing testimony, and working with clients from many diverse immigrant populations. I have received training through Physicians for Human Rights as well as advanced training through IMPACT (Immigration Psychology Access Team). I am currently a member of IMPACT's clinical team and a volunteer with OHSU's Asylum Clinic.
